All cyclists that like to ride metal, listen up! Steel bike manufacturer Cotic Bikes from the UK, has decided to release two limited edition versions of their popular Escapade Gravel bike. The two limited edition Escapades will be made using the iconic Reynolds 853 air-hardened tube set for the construction of the front triangle.

There are two colors that are part of the Escapade limited-build batch, the Escapade 853 Damson, and the Escapade 853 Lichen. You can get either of these colors with your choice of a few different build kit options.

This one-off, one-batch-only version of the Escapade will be using the Reynolds DZB (incorporates two different butting profiles on the same tube) down tube and the Cotic Ovalform top tube. Cotic claims that building the limited edition Escapade with the new 853 front triangle` trims the weight off of the original Escapade by 70 grams. Cotic also states that the new frame material will “boast another level of compliance and comfort.”

The two different versions of the 853 Escapades share the same frame construction, the only thing differentiating them is the color. The 853 Escapade will also be available as a frameset with a full color-matched carbon fork.
Like the original Escapade, the limited edition will still have tire clearance of 700cx42mm or 650bx47mm. The Escapade is Cotic’s adventure road or all-road bike that they say will “fit into your life for work and fun”. It has bosses for two water bottle cages, a rear rack, and full mudguards making it pretty versatile.
Cotic wants you to know that the standard Escapade features you’d expect are still available in the Limited Editions, like:
- The engaging, energetic handling and ride character
- The comfort for long distances on rough roads
- Multiple bosses for anything from a single water bottle to luggage. And anything in between
- Inside Out routing options for anything from easy-to-maintain full external to full Di2 internal
- Thru-axles front and rear
