First noticed by us as the premium house-brand components of Vitus bikes, Prime Bike Components are also available consumer-direct from their parent partner retailer Wiggle – aiming to establish themselves as an affordable upgrade for any bike. Cutting out the middleman means great value, but like Vitus, Prime hasn’t really been skimping on the product R&D either.
These new Primavera carbon road wheels set a new benchmark for the brand with all-new blunt-nosed CFD-optimized aero rim profiles, depth-optimized material layup reinforcement, and a new in-house developed hub with ratchet freehub since DT’s patent expired.
Tech details
Each of the new rims shares a T800 UD carbon base material with a 23mm wide internal (30mm external) hooked tubeless-ready profile – 32mm, 44mm, 56mm & 85mm deep – making them both more aero and structurally stronger. The two deeper 56 & 85mm profiles add a thin layer of Kevlar through the middle of their taller rim walls to increase impact strength & durability, while keeping weight low.
The new 24-hole straight-pull centerlock 6063-T6 alloy hubs feature proven DT-style heat-treated carbon steel star ratchet internals with a 36T ring standard and dual springs – upgradable to 54T.
The new 12mm thru-axle hubs rotate on oversized alloy axles, spin on premium Japanese steel sealed bearings, and are laced to the carbon rims with DT Swiss Aerocomp/Aerolite spokes & alloy DT nipples. Freehubs are available for Shimano HG, SRAM XDR & Campagnolo cassettes.
Complete wheelset weights are claimed 32mm deep at 1272g, 44mm deep at 1378g, 56mm deep at 1482g, and 962g for the 85mm deep rear wheel.

Primavera Disc are Prime’s new top-tier, and are all available now direct from Wiggle. The Primavera 32, 44 & 56 Carbon Disc are primarily sold as complete wheelsets for £900 / 1000€ each. While the deeper Primavera 85 Carbon Disc are only available separately as £500 front and £600rear wheels to mix and match with the slightly cheaper, shallower wheels £450 front & £470 rear.
