Battle Motors, formerly Crane Carrier Company (CCC), has raised $150 million in a Series B investment round. This capital raise follows a $120-million Series A round announced in December 2021.

Battle Motors serves the vocational truck industry, providing diesel, methane and now EV chassis for refuse and recycling applications to some 750 municipal customers across the US and Canada. The company is also taking aim at the middle-mile and last-mile delivery markets.

Since acquiring the 76-year-old commercial vehicle OEM Crane Carrier in 2021, Battle has increased production throughput at its Ohio manufacturing facility from around a single truck per day to its current daily throughput of approximately six trucks per day, through increased automation. The proceeds from the latest capital raise will be used to expand production to 16 trucks per day.

Development and commercialization of a reliable severe-duty electric truck is at the core of Battle’s strategy. The company recently earned FMVSS certification for its EV truck line, and is now delivering its Class 8 electric truck to refuse customers.

“Receiving FMVSS certifications and moving into production on our first EV model validates our team’s perseverance in creating revolutionary innovations, and expanding our EV capabilities allows us to create even more disruptive technologies to deliver to the market,” says CTO Kelleigh Ash.
