The latest jewel of Italian craftmanship out of the Battaglin workshop is this ultra-limited edition Verona road bike, with gold-plated lugs and stays. Surely, this is a premium collector’s item, but wow does that shiny steel look great built up with the carbon of a mechanical Campagnolo Super Record groupset and those stealth edition Lightweight Meilenstein wheels!
Battaglin Verona 2022 limited edition gold-plated lugged steel road bike
Battaglin created the Verona 2022 to honor the return of this year’s Giro d’Italia finish to the Verona amphitheater, the same place where eponymous founder of Officina Battaglin, Giovanni Battaglin won his Giro victory back in 1981.
This new limited edition bike is based on the standard edition lugged steel Arena 1981, which itself harkened back to Giovanni’s win inside the ancient amphitheater. As said by his son Alex Battaglin and now CEO of the custom bike workshop, “the city of Verona has changed Giovanni Battaglin’s life forever, laying the foundation for what we do today“. So since the Giro finish came back this year, they thought it deserved an extra limited update.
Tech details
The Verona 2022 is a custom-fit (after a personal consultation with Giovanni) lugged steel frameset made by hand entirely in Battaglin’s northern Italy workshop from Columbus SL tubes and cast lugs. It is finished in a high-polish blue cromovelato mirror-finish, before the lugs and stays get gold-plated. Battaglin describes it as an interpretation of the blue & yellow colors of the city of Verona’s flag.
Only 10 of the limited edition Verona 2022 bikes will be sold, with each complete frameset selling for 3800€, including a gold-plated individual number plate, Certificate of Authenticity, and delivery anywhere in the world. And if you want Battaglin to build it up into a modern classic superbike, they’ll be happy to arrange that with you directly.
