In addition to the new Force AXS & XPLR groups, SRAM also showed off a four-slot AXS battery charger and the rainbow-hued “oil slick” finish for Red cassettes and chains.
Paired with the right frame color, and let’s be honest, there are a lot of “right frame colors” that will work with this, the new oil slick finish looks just as good on the road and not roads as it has on mountain bikes.
It might be a Red level component, but it looks darn nice with the new Force AXS’ Unicorn Gray sparkle finish.
Available separately, the cassette is offered in 10-28 and 10-33 sizes for $377 (€401 / £358). The chain is the Red level chain with hollow pins and Hard Chrome inner links, retail is $75 (€80 / £72).
SRAM AXS multi-battery charger
There’s also a new 4-battery charger for your AXS batteries. I’m as excited about this as I am everything else that launched as it a) switches to USB-C, and b) de-clutters my workbench by giving me one single charger for all the stuff. And, it’s a rapid charger, getting four dead batteries up to 75% in 60 minutes, then trickle-charging them to full after that. Or just throw a single battery on there while you’re getting dressed and it’ll have plenty of charge for your lunch ride.
It’s for anyone with more than one AXS-equipped bike, or maybe even a mountain bike with a Reverb AXS, Flight Attendant suspension, and Eagle AXS group, there’s four batteries just on one bike. Retail is $120 (€145 / £130).
