Spoon Sestriere custom alloy road bike
Premium custom but without premium pricing. That’s the idea behind Spoon Customs building their newest road bike from scandium alloy tubing instead of carbon.
Still made by hand in Europe, and still offering fully customizable geometry & custom wet paint, the Sestriere Scandium Disc road bike takes advantage of the lightweight and easy workability of scandium & aluminum alloys.

Geometry is based on the proven handling & performance of Spoon’s flagship Var carbon bike, adapted to fit each individual rider. Buyers can go to Spoon’s Surrey, England HQ southwest of London for the same 3-hour custom fit session as their more premium custom steel or carbon bikes to ensure they get the ideal bike for them.

The Spoon Sestriere is welded in Italy from a mix of triple-butted Dedacciai scandium & 7005 alloy tubing – creating a frame Spoon describes as “both stiffer and lighter than aluminium and requires no heat treatment after welding, ensuring a stiff and responsive frame without the downsides or harsh ride quality often associated with cheaper alloys“.
The modern alloy road bike features a 1.5″ tapered steerer, modular internal routing in the downtube, flat mount disc brakes, and 12mm thru-axles. It sticks with a classic 27.2mm seatpost with external clamp, a 68mm BSA threaded bottom bracket, and gets a proper head badge.

The scandium Spoon Sestriere Scandium Disc is fully customizable with custom geometry, custom single-color paint, and a high-performance component spec complete build available for less than £5000 / $5000 / 5000€. This sample build spec under that £5k threshold includes a Columbus Futura Disc carbon fork, a complete SRAM Rival AXS 2x groupset, Zipp 303S carbon wheelset with tubeless Pirelli P Zero Race TLR 28mm tires, plus a Deda headset & stem, carbon PRO PLT handlebar& Vibe seatpost, and a Prologo saddle… for a claimed complete bike weight of 8.5kg.
The Sestriere is also available as a custom frame-only for just £1895 for cyclists looking to build up the bike on their own.
