Thanks to a new partnership between Hunt x Classified, you can now order two of Hunt’s top-selling carbon aero road or lightweight gravel racing wheelsets with a hub ready to accept Powershift internal gearing. Just pop that Powershift in, and you get 2x benefits with all the upsides of 1x drivetrains, too. Making the switch to Classified just keeps getting easier…
Hunt x Classified, affordable Powershift-ready carbon wheels
OK, you decided to swap your 1×13 Campy Ekar gravel bike over to a Classified Powershift 2x drivetrain? Or maybe you just want more from your SRAM, Shimano, or Campagnolo 11sp or 12sp groupsets… so now you need some new wheels. Hunt can help you with that. Working together, now Hunt can build you a lightweight, reasonably-priced high-performance tubeless carbon road or gravel racing wheelset – ready for you to pop in a Classified Powershift hub gear.
Hunt hand builds both their Giro d’Italia stage-winning & uniquely wide 48 Limitless Aero Disc road and the newer superlight (1383g in standard guise) 40 Carbon Gravel Race gravel wheelsets with Classified’s alloy hub shell in the rear wheel. That makes them “Classified-Ready” meaning you buy the Powershift system direct from Classified (which will run you 1300€), and simply pop the internally-geared hub & cassette of your choice into your new Hunt wheels for a 2x conversion without a front derailleur – with optimized chainline, larger cassette cogs & chainring for decreased drivetrain drag, and instantaneous wireless ‘front’ 2x shifting even under power.
Hunt x Classified – Pricing, availability & options
A set of Classified-Ready carbon Hunt aero road wheels will cost you £1149 / $1349 / €1499 for the 48mm deep, 35mm external, 22.5mm internal 48 Limitless Aero Disc (claimed 1501g without Powershift internals). Or a set of hookless carbon gravel wheels will cost just £949 / $1199 / €1239 for the 40mm deep, 30mm external, 25mm internal 40 Carbon Gravel Race (claimed 1270g without Powershift internals).
Yes, both Hunt wheels come without the Classified Powershift system, so you can pick which setup you want from Classified directly. Or you can also quickly swap single Powershift hub from one wheelset to the next if you want more than one wheelset for your bike.
Both are available to pre-order from Hunt now, but delivery in hand will have to wait until this summer – June 2023.
Also interestingly of note, Hunt’s press release included this sentence… “The partnership will include the integration of Classified’s proprietary rear hub shell hardware into select wheels from HUNT’s product line, which includes high-performance bicycle wheels for road, mountain, and gravel riding.” We’ll let you mull over what that might mean.
