YT has added two new models of the Capra enduro bike for 2023; the $2,699 USD Capra Core 1 and the $3,299 USD Capra Core 2 GX, making this aluminum enduro platform more affordable than ever. For geometry and kinematic information on the 29″ and MX Capra MK3 read our launch coverage; here, we give a brief overview of the new aluminum models released today.
YT Capra Core 1
Today’s launch of the YT Capra Core 1 brings the entry-level price of this aluminum enduro bike down by a not insignificant $700, now retailing at the very attractive price point of $2,699. Available in both 29″ and MX models, the Core 1 offers 5 frame sizes (S-XXL) in a Sludge Green frameset. Out front, you’ll find a 170mm travel RockShox Zeb with the Rush RC Damper, while a RockShox Super Deluxe Select R damps 165mm of rear wheel travel. It is custom-tuned for the Capra’s linkage, and YT have an easy setup guide available on their website.
YT has selected SRAM’s latest stoppers; the DB8 brakes run on mineral oil, and have been described as a budget-friendly version of the SRAM CODE brake. The 4-piston calipers bite down on 200mm SRAM Centerline rotors. At the drivetrain you’ll find SRAM NX Eagle Components with an 11-50T cassette and an e*Thirteen TRS chain guide. The Capra Core 1 rolls on a Sun Ringle Duroc Comp SD37 wheelset fitted with a Maxxis Assegai and Maxxis Minion DHRII tire combo. A YT Postman dropper seat post rounds it out.
YT Capra Core 2 GX
The Capra Core 2 GX model shifts things up a gear right across the board; a Fox 38 Performance Fork is paired with a Float X rear shock, while the drivetrain is upgraded to the SRAM GX Eagle components with a 10-52T cassette offering that easier climbing gear. Brakes are upgraded to the proven SRAM Code R brakes. This one rolls on the Crankbrothers Synthesis Alloy Wheelset, also running a Maxxis Assegai/DHRII combo.
An e*Thirteen handlebar and stem make up the cockpit with ODI Grips, and an SDG Bel-Air 3.0 saddle sits atop the YT Postman dropper.
If you still want the ride feel of aluminum but have a greater appetite for high-end suspension, brakes and drivetrain components, take a look at the $3,999 USD Uncaged 9 Edition.
