The states of California and New Jersey offer voucher programs to help fleet operators purchase commercial EVs (the HVIP and ZIP programs, respectively). GreenPower Motor Company (NASDAQ: GP), a manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty EVs, has become expert at helping its customers navigate the voucher application process.
GreenPower recently secured an additional 85 vouchers under the California HVIP program for 75 EV Star 22-foot cargo vans, 8 EV Star box trucks and 2 EV Star 25-foot cargo vans. The company delivered 15 EV Star vehicles to customers with vouchers this quarter, and has scheduled deliveries for another 55 units with existing vouchers.
GreenPower’s EV Star is a purpose-built EV platform that can be used for a range of passenger and cargo vehicles for mid- and last-mile delivery applications. It features a 118 kWh battery pack and DC fast charging capability, and can provide a payload of up to 7,000 pounds and a range of 150 miles.
“GreenPower’s EV Star 22-foot cargo van has quickly become our highest-demand vehicle,” said Michael Perez, VP of School Bus, Contracts and Grants. “Incentive programs offered by California and New Jersey are making a difference with the adoption of all-electric vehicles. With the existing vouchers we have a steady stream of deliveries to customers over the next couple of months.”
