Following announcement of the Chrono Downcountry Hardtails, Mondraker is adding two aluminum models of the Raze 130mm Trail Bike; the Raze R and the Raze. The two are very similar to the Carbon Raze that debuted last year with Mondraker’s own on-board MIND Telemetry System. Sadly, these new aluminum models won’t be benefiting from the integrated suspension setup tool. However, the Stealth Aluminum frame shares a very similar capable set of geometry figures and the same suspension kinematic, built into a package that is rather more wallet-friendly. Here’s a quick overview of the Mondraker Raze Alloy mountain bikes.
2023 Mondraker Raze Alloy
The Raze was intended to blend the uphill pedal efficiency of the F-Podium XC Bike with the downhill capabilities of the Foxy Enduro Bike. It combines 29″ wheels with the generous reach figures of Mondraker’s Forward Geometry principles and 130mm of rear wheel travel. The Zero Suspension System delivering that sees two links working to compress a floating shock from both ends. This is said to make the rear suspension extremely supple on small bumps and big hit-capable.
Like the carbon models, the Raze Alloy models get a 150mm travel fork sat at a 65.5° head angle. Reach is 5mm shorter across the S-XL size range, coming in at 470mm on the Medium. The stack height is a little higher, too, at 623mm on the Medium thanks to a 10mm taller headtube. Seat tube lengths remain short at 415mm on the Medium, with an effective seat angle of 76.5° across all sizes. Chainstay length is identical at 435mm. BB is a little lower at 340mm. The new aluminum models bring the starting price of the Mondraker Raze down to € 3,999 ($4,399 USD), over € 3,000 cheaper than the least expensive carbon model. That money fetches you the package seen below; a Fox DPS Performance shock, a RockShox 35 Gold fork, a SRAM SX Eagle 12-Speed Drivetrain, 30mm internal width aluminum rims on Formula hubs, and SRAM Level T 2-Piston Brakes.
The Mondraker Raze R is the higher-end aluminum model, retailing at € 5,199 ($5,699 USD). That cash affords you a Fox Float DPS Performance Shock, Fox 36 Rythm fork with GRIP damper, Mavic Crossmax XL Wheels on Infinity Hubs, a SRAM GX/NX 12 Speed Eagle Drivetrain and SRAM G2 R 4-Piston Brakes.
A Mondraker Raze Alloy frameset will also be available in the above colorway for $2,699 USD for those after a custom spec. Claimed frame weight is 3.5 kg including shock, mounting hardware, axle and brake adapter.
