Peugeot’s e-208 has sold almost 110,000 units since its launch in 2019, and the company says it’s the best-selling EV in France so far in 2022.
Now the electric city car has gotten a major upgrade for 2023. A new engine will deliver 115 kW/156 hp (a 15% increase) and 260 Nm of torque, while efficiency improvements will reduce average energy consumption to just 12 kWh per 100 km.
A new, more efficient 400-volt battery offers a gross capacity of 51 kWh (48.1 kWh usable), and delivers a range of up to 400 km on the WLTP cycle (certification in progress).
Peugeot has been steadily improving the e-208—it now offers 17% more range and 15% less energy consumption since its 2019 launch.
A heat pump coupled with a humidity sensor installed on top of the windscreen is designed to maximize the energy efficiency of the heating and AC. The information transmitted by the sensor makes it possible to control the air recirculation in the passenger compartment more precisely.
Two charging options are available: the standard single-phase 7.4 kW charger and an optional three-phase 11 kW charger. The e-208 is capable of DC fast charging at 100 kW.
The new Peugeot e-208 will go on sale in Europe in 2023.
