Canada-based graphene company NanoXplore has purchased several assets from energy storage materials manufacturer XG Sciences, which ended operations in July of 2022.
NanoXplore has agreed to purchase XG’s mechanical milling platform, R&D lab, all issued and pending patents, as well as its trademarks.
“XG Sciences has a high-quality patent portfolio in strong end markets, and their additives have attractive features and performance in the battery anode material, particularly in next-generation solid-state battery chemistries,” says NanoXplore. “As a result of the transaction, NanoXplore now owns all patents and patent applications including a portfolio of seven patents (six issued and one pending) of silicon-graphene battery materials and all XG trademarks.”
NanoXplore plans to transport the assets to Canada to set up a battery material R&D facility. In 2023, the company also plans to use the assets to construct a silicon-graphene anode material production facility with a capacity of 100-200 tons per year.
