EVR Motors to provide EKA Mobility with motors for electric buses and LCVs in India

Israeli startup EVR Motors and Indian tech firm EKA Mobility have teamed up to design small, lightweight electric motors for EKA’s e-buses and Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) for the Indian market.

Under the agreement, EVR will design and develop electric motors for EKA based on its proprietary Trapezoidal Stator Radial Flux Permanent Magnet (TS-RFPM) motor, and EKA will manufacture and integrate them into the vehicles it provides to the Indian market.

According to EVR, its motors generate increased magnetic flux and reduce flux leakage thanks to 3D Trapezoidal teeth and windings. They’re 30 to 50% lighter and smaller than standard motors, and their price is significantly lower.

The partnership with EKA is EVR’s third collaboration agreement in India. Earlier this year, EVR announced commercial agreements with two prominent Indian Tier 1 suppliers—Napino Auto & Electronics and Badve Engineering. EVR also recently announced its entrance into the Japanese market following a distribution agreement with Tsukasa Electric.

Meanwhile, EKA Mobility recently launched its 9-meter (30-foot) electric bus. The new e-bus, which was completely designed and manufactured in India, received Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) certification from The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), and is expected to be deployed to roads soon.
