POC Propel Aero Sunglasses Promise to Make You Faster, Like EF Pro Cycling at TDU

POC Sports have a new pair of aerodynamic Propel sunglasses designed to make you faster out on the road. Designed to be lightweight, provide an excellent field of view, and reduce drag around the rider’s head to complement the improved aerodynamics of modern aero helmets.

POC Propel aero eyewear – faster sunglasses!

Already raced at the Tour Down Under by the EF Pro Cycling women & men – on their prototype Cannondale SuperSixes, no less – the new POC Propel aero eyewear isn’t so far removed from their almost goggle-like Devour sunglasses. A large lens with high-quality optics provides a clear view with excellent wind & sun protection. And its CFD-optimized frame sand temple designs ensure reduced drag, allowing “airflow to interact with the rider and their body position”.

According to POC:

“The Propel is explicitly designed to sit closer to the face, with a wrap-around feel and precise side fairings which guide air away from a rider’s ears. This precise management of airflow brings aerodynamic gains as air is guided over the shoulders – instead of allowing a rider’s ears to cause turbulence – which creates a smoother airflow and enhances a rider’s aerodynamic profile.

Tested in CFD alongside many of POC’s performance sunglasses, the Propel’s continually came out on top, saving watts and with a new design emerging as the most aerodynamic. In addition, the Propel’s feature a unique Clarity lens that wraps further around the head and results in an incredible field of view, enhancing peripheral vision and the ability to see and react to dangers earlier.”

Tech details

The 3/4 frame wrap-around sunglasses are constructed of Bio-Grilamid, a polyamide plastic made from renewable plant oil derived from the castor plant. The glasses feature adjustable-length earpieces, and a large interchangeable Clarity lens for excellent visibility – but not so oversized that they will interfere with most helmets.

The POC Propel aero shades all come with a single violet & silver or gold mirrored lens, plus a spare clear lens. Several different colored replacement lenses are also available separately: Brown/Light Silver Mirror, Brown/Silver Mirror, Brown, Clear 90.0, Violet, Violet/Gold Mirror, Violet/Light Silver Mirror & Violet/Silver Mirror.
